reality leaves a lot to the imagination
Nostalgic Trip #3
Remember this old-timey horror show? If you’re a child of the early 90’s like myself, there’s a good chance that you do. I started watching this show when I was only about 7 or 8 years old, and God, was it ever freaky. Honestly, I’m not even entirely sure if the show’s target audience was for children or younger youth, but I watched it nonetheless.
If you’re unfamiliar with the show or have forgotten it, it always began with this creepy ass intro that will make you crap your pants. Each episode basically started out with a group of teens who call themselves the Midnight Society (what a cheesy name), gathered around a campfire in some neck of the woods. The members of the group would take turns narrating a horror story, a tale that would last for the duration of an episode. Then each episode would end off with a member of the group (I remember the dorky guy with glasses doing it a lot) dousing off the campfire with a bucket filled with water, leaving you with shivers as you wonder what the hell you just watched.
I think one of the most chilling episodes that I remember from the show would probably be the one with the clown. CLASSIC episode. I get goosebumps (unintentional reference to the other horror show) just thinking about that episode as I type this. Obviously, clowns in any horror show or movie are generally pretty scary, but when you’re young and watching this show with this freaky ass clown, it’s going to leave you with some bad memories and nightmares.
If anyone is interested, a Youtube link to this particular episode can be found here (The Tale of Laughing in the Dark: Parts 1/2/3), sans the intro. Good times.
