I was reading over some of my notes and I noticed that there were pages which had tons of these short little squiggly lines everywhere. Then I realized that I made those from when I accidentally dozed off during lectures and the pen in my hand apparently came to life.
Where you start typing about something and everything seems to just keep flowing from your brain to your fingers. And then when you finish typing you realize that you wrote too much, and nobody in the right mind would read such a lengthy post. OH WELL.
I’m often curious about how what people on the Internet are thinking when they use the “like” functions of social media websites, such as Tumblr or Facebook.
It’s kind of funny when you think about it. Do people actually “LIKE” what you posted, or is the “like” button merely something they press to symbolize their agreement or something else entirely? The most obvious cases are when the original poster actually shares something genuinely fascinating, like a rad new song or kickass video. Those kinds of posts can warrant the use of a thumbs up or a like for sure. But what about the other posts? Perhaps the less happy ones?
I remember seeing posts on Tumblr, on one of mine’s as well, that people liked and it seemed completely inappropriate to like such a post. In my case, it was less extreme. If I recall correctly it was just about how my day or week sucked complete ass and I was going crazy. You know how sometimes you post things online just to vent? That was one of those moments for me. What surprised me though was how one of my followers (no disrespect haha) liked the post.
What does that mean?! It confuses me. Does this follower take pleasure in knowing that I was having a crappy day/week? Is that why they liked my post? Why would they be a hater LOL. Or did they click like to sympathize with my situation? I really don’t know.
In another case (if you are reading this dude, I hope you don’t mind me talking about it) that was kind of more serious, my friend posted something about his mother, whose health wasn’t too great. Then one of his followers clicked the like button. Again, what does it mean? Are they being the biggest asses ever or just sending their regards? We talked about it after and we thought it’s pretty stupid how people would like posts like those cause they totally might give the original poster the wrong impression.
BUT ANYWAYS, this has been another random thing that I felt like typing about! PEACE. I think I shall go post a song now, I have not done that in a while.
Almost there! Another week of examinations has passed. I felt like this week has been way more brutal than the previous one. Both weeks I’ve had to take a physics and a math final, but this week’s was just, wow. Totally got a kick in the ass from doing them. But they’re over now so there’s not much you can do but hope for the best. I have one more to take next week and then I’ll finally be done. Thankfully this one’s not really a final, it’s just a normal test (which is nice cause it reduces the stress factor by like three).
In the meantime though, I have to start catching up on some TV shows, there’s just so much that I’m behind on it’s crazy. I’m also planning on heading to the library and checking out some books. Say what you will, but I’ve always enjoyed reading, and it’s been a drag with this school year being so busy and all that I haven’t had time to sit down with a good book. So one of the first things I’m going to do is go borrow some, and hopefully soon.
Well I’m a horrible dancer, I ain’t gonna lie But I’ll be damned if that means that I ain’t gonna try Yeah, I’m a shitty romancer baby ain’t gonna lie But I’ll be damned if that means that I ain’t gonna try
Whew, it’s been a busy couple of days. It’s finals month, so I’ve been studying and whatnot for them. I just finished two this past week but still have three more to go. On one hand it’s nice that the exams are spaced out in the coming two weeks, but on the other hand the final one is on April 20-something and I’d really have them finished with as soon as possible to get started on a long-awaited break.
Hm what else what else. Canucks have begun their playoff run this week against the Chicago Blackhawks. We just played game two tonight, which we won and giving us a 2-0 lead in the series. It’s been great fun watching the team play and showing the Hawks what’s up. Hopefully more awesomeness is to come, the next game is on Sunday.
To wrap out tonight I think it’ll be nice to post up a song I recently came across by California band The Limousines. It’s pretty rad, quite an energetic tune.
I just woke up a little while ago and the sun’s out! Excellent. You got to love it when you wake up the sun is shining through your window. It really starts your day off right.
And by the way, to the people who answered the riddle with “The surgeon is his mother”, you’re right! Tumblr high fives to all of you. I on the other hand, did not even consider the possibility of the surgeon being his mother. I thought that the son was just some adopted or illegitimate child. I feel dumb.
In other news for today, I have a physics final at 3:30, so hopefully that goes well. I’m feeling pretty optimistic about it, cause I got a lot of good studying done for it. Anyways, I’m getting hungry and feel like making something with eggs today (which is basically all I know how to make). Maybe a fail omelette is in order.
this will make you feel stupid if you don't know the answer
A man and his son get in a car accident. The father dies on the scene, but the child survives and is taken to the hospital. Upon his arrival, the surgeon says, “I can’t operate on this boy, he is my son!” How is this possible?
For me, nothing beats their album The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place cause I love the mellow material on it as compared to some of the band’s other songs. Still, this eight minute track from their upcoming album Take Care, Take Care, Take Care is pretty sweet.
I think I’m going to take a couple days off from Tumblr, hockey (for these next couple games or so anyhow), and other social media. I’m going to try and settle down and prepare to study for my finals. I’ve realized that I am a mess, cause I have no sense of discipline whatsoever when it comes to doing school stuff. Hopefully, this will do me some good.
I’m totally digging this indie band from LA. This song’s incredibly catchy, especially with the whistling. I know some people don’t like whistling/clapping parts in songs but what the hell, it really makes this song more awesome. Currently, the band only has a self-titled EP with three tracks out but will be releasing their debut album, Torches on May 24. Give them a listen! Now.
