When I see your face There’s not a thing that I would change Cause you’re amazing Just the way you are. And when you smile, The whole world stops and stares for awhile Cause girl you’re amazing Just the way you are.
Dialogue part from “Home” by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. I love this.
Him: Jade. Her: Alexander. Him: Do you remember that day you fell out of my window? Her: I sure do, you came jumping out after me. Him: Well, you fell on the concrete, nearly broke your ass, and you were bleeding all over the place and I rushed you out to the hospital, you remember that? Her: Yes, I do. Him: Well, there’s something I never told you about that night. Her: What didn’t you tell me? Him: While you were sitting in the backseat smoking a cigarette you thought was going to be your last, I was falling deep, deeply in love with you, and I never told you until just now.
For those of you non-Frenchies out there, it stands for “No, I regret nothing”. This song is sung French cultural icon, Edith Piaf, and is featured in Christopher Nolan’s film “Inception”. The characters of the film were signaled to commence “a kick” upon hearing a song, specifically, this song. The song itself is really quite elegant, I’m glad Nolan chose to incorporate this in the film, whether it be for the title, content, or style.
Sadly, Edith Piaf passed away at the age of 47 due to liver cancer. The legacy of her life was shown in the film “La Vie en rose”, and coincidentally, actress Marion Cotillard (who played Mal in Inception), portrayed Edith Piaf. You can find info on the film on IMDB.
You may recognize this score as being the one that accompanied one of the trailers (the third I believe) for Inception. It’s a shame that this was not included in the official soundtrack, because it was composed so brilliantly. It has quite an epic and thrilling feel to it.
I just had a chance to check out all the new albums and songs released today. My seemingly uneventful day before has suddenly been redeemed. I am a very happy guy right now, lots of good stuff out this week!
I could kind of tell early on in the game that Spain was going to advance to the World Cup finals, and triumph over the Germans today. Germany looked like they were holding back quite a bit, letting Spain take ball possession for the majority of the game. It was only after Puyol’s insane-of-a-header goal that sparked the Germans to put in the effort.
Like always, I was impressed with Spain’s playing, they are definitely the most entertaining team to watch. Their connection with one another is quite extraordinary, knowing where to go for passes from each other, and how to set up a play. I really hope they take it all the way this year to become the 2010 World Cup Champions.
I am hoping that the results will be as follows: Spain takes 1st, Netherlands 2nd, Germany 3rd, and Uruguay 4th.
As a side note, I just found out about Paul the Octopus yesterday. Apparently he’s this “psychic” octopus that predicts the winner of an upcoming match. I watched some videos on him, and it’s said that he’s quite accurate, and he even predicted Spain’s victory over Germany just the day before. Seems pretty outrageous, you can try Youtubing “Psychic octopus” to find out more or to watch the process.
Anyways, I am full on cheering for Spain now. Viva España!
